7. relationship scene

the first year aims to free and strengthen the actor’s instrument. Acting skills such as the ability to really listen, to live truthfully in the moment and to respond impulsively are stressed. Much of this work is taught through the repetition exercise and further developed through the use of contemporary scenes.

SECOND YEAR
1. character work
2. character scene
3. pinning down of moments
xx [making active choices]
4. Spoon River Anthology
5. final scene

the second year work involves scene analysis, character work, and developing the ability to make active and personal choices within the confines of a given script. As the ground work is laid in the first year, all students must take the first year class in order to do the second year work.

THE 2 YEAR PROGRAM
IS BROKEN DOWN INTO
12 STAGES:

7 in the first year and
5 in the second year.
The first three stages are
completed in twelve week
and are considered the
introductory period. After
this period, both the teacher
and the student have the
opportunity to evaluate
the student’s progress and
decide whether continuing
with the program is
beneficial to themselves
as well as to the rest
of the class. If the student
is asked back, they
continue into the 4th stage
of the first year and on
into the 2nd year.
