»The
most dominant
change in my acting
has been the courage
I obtained through the
work. Because I was
not negatively criticized
at the studio, but rather
invited to experiment
further within the
confines of the exercise,
I felt free enough
to take the risks neces
sary for growth.«

GOALS
OF THE STUDIO
Building
a foundation of lasting value for your acting, developing
true
listening, working from your instinct rather than your
head, living fully in
the moment, being open and available to your partners
and yourself, really
doing rather than pretending to do, will bring a deep
personal meaning
to your work. these skills are essential. Without them,
acting can not occur.
THE
REPETITION EXERCISE IS THE CORNERSTONE OF THIS WORK
At
the beginning the repetition exercise needs to be learned
by rote
perfecting what may seem at first to be trivial details.
But, by taking the attention off your self, you immediately
gain a certain freedom. Then, through practice,
the exercise becomes second nature and, conscious decision
is no longer needed. This is an important step. With your
conscious mind now the real self
is free to shine through. The repetition exercise is no
longer the goal; instead it becomes a tool. The goal is
to realize your own individuality as an actor.
